Begin your nature adventure in the Ooty Botanical Gardens. Founded in 1847, these gardens boast a variety of exotic plants and trees, including a fossilized tree that dates back more than 20 million years. Take a leisurely stroll through the gardens and enjoy the tranquillity.
Travel out of town to Pykara Lake and Falls. The lake is breathtakingly beautiful, and boat rides are available for those who wish to explore further. After exploring the lake, take a short hike to the falls and enjoy spectacular views of the water rushing down the rocks.
Drive to Coonoor to see the Dolphin's Nose viewpoint. This viewpoint offers a stunning view of the Nilgiri Mountains and Catherine Falls, which plunges down a stunning 250 ft. The picnic spot is an ideal place to relax awhile and enjoy the stunning vistas.
On your final day, take a long drive to Kodaikanal to see Silver Cascade Waterfall, one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Tamil Nadu. It falls from a height of 180 feet and surrounded by dense forest and cliffs. If time permits, head over to Coaker's Walk, a scenic walk that overlooks the green hills of Kodai, and the Orchidarium, which is open on weekdays.
If you have extra time, consider visiting the Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary and the Needle Rock viewpoint in Gudalur. If you have less time, you can skip Dolphin's Nose viewpoint in Coonoor. Instead, you can visit Avalanche Lake in Ooty. It's the most serene place near Ooty. Don't forget to pack comfortable walking shoes and warm clothing as the place can get chilly, especially in the evenings.
