The highest peak in Wayanad, Chembra Peak, offers you stunning views of the Western Ghats from the top. The trek to the top takes about 3-4 hours, and you can hire a guide. Carry enough food and water for the trip, and do not forget to visit the heart-shaped lake on the way up, which is a major attraction.
The Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary is a protected area in the Western Ghats that houses a charming mix of rare and endangered species of flora and fauna. Visitors can go on a jeep or elephant safari to explore the sanctuary. The Muthanga and Tholpetty regions have the most significant population of animals, and if you're lucky, you can spot tigers, leopards, langurs, and elephants.
