Kodaikanal Lake is an artificial, star-shaped lake, situated in the heart of the town. Surrounded by lush green hills, it is an ideal spot for rowing, boating or simply strolling around the beautiful lake while enjoying the cool breeze. There are plenty of food and souvenir vendors on the lakeside, making it convenient for families with kids. You can also take a horse ride or climb on top of the pillar rock situated near the lake.
Bryant Park is a beautifully landscaped garden located near the eastern side of Kodaikanal Lake. The park features a greenhouse, a glasshouse, and a colorful flower garden with a variety of flowers, including dahlias, pansies, and roses. There are also fountains, benches, and a play area for kids. You can relax under the shade of the trees or have a picnic while admiring the beauty of nature.
Coaker's Walk is a 1 km long pedestrian path along the edge of a steep slope offering a breathtaking panoramic view of the valley. The walk starts near Van Allen Hospital and ends at the Lake. The walkway is decorated with beautiful trees and hedges and offers a unique experience of nature's beauty. There are several viewpoints along the way, where you can stop, relax, and take photographs. You can enjoy the scenic views of Kodaikanal's charming town wrapped around the valley and hills.
Bear Shola Falls is a small, but a beautiful cascading waterfall, located in a serene and picturesque location. Surrounded by the verdant greenery, the falls get their name as the legend goes that bears used to come here to drink water. The falls offer a breathtaking view during the monsoon season, and it's a perfect spot to relax and rejuvenate while enjoying the nature's beauty.
If you have more time, you can visit the nearby places such as Green Valley View, Pine Forest, and Pillar Rocks. But, if you have less time, you can skip Bryant Park and Bear Shola Falls. It's better to start early in the morning to avoid the crowds and enjoy the activities peacefully. Do not forget to carry comfortable shoes, sunscreen, and a hat to protect yourself from the sun and stay hydrated. Also, be respectful towards the nature and the locals and do not litter.
