Start your day with a serene walk through the Karnala Bird Sanctuary, home to over 150 species of birds. This sanctuary of about 12.11 square kilometers has a varied topography, including hills, cliffs, and three specific forest areas. Enjoy the soothing sounds of birds chirping during your hike, and keep an eye out for colorful avian species like fairy bluebirds and Asian paradise flycatchers.
For some peaceful reflection, your next stop should be the Kaas Plateau. The plateau is also called the valley of flowers and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. At this location, you will be able to witness high-elevation grasslands and marvel at the natural beauty of a variety of wildflowers. In the monsoon season, the plateau is at its best. You will appreciate the fresh air and stunning vistas and enjoy capturing beautiful memories.
Finally, head west for a visit to Kondana Caves, a 2000-year-old cave system nestled in a scenic valley. As you walk through the rock-cut Buddhist shrines, you will feel like you are being transported back in time. The caves consist of viharas, chaityas, and stupas, carved out of the massive rock formations. Make sure to take in the magnificent views around the caves and to learn about the history of Buddhism in India.
