Start your trip by exploring the UNESCO-recognized historic center of Old Goa, full of colonial-era churches, convents and cathedrals. Visit the impressive Basilica of Bom Jesus, a 400-year-old church that houses the remains of St. Francis Xavier, and the beautifully adorned Se Cathedral. You can also explore the Church of St. Cajetan and the Chapel of Our Lady of the Mount, both bearing impressive baroque architecture.
Spend the second day exploring the spice plantations around Ponda and learn about the traditional cultivation and processing of spices like cardamom, pepper, and nutmeg. The Sahakari Spice Farm offers an informative tour along with traditional Goan lunch. Afterward, head to one of the nearby beaches such as the serene Colva Beach or the bustling Calangute Beach. Soak in the sun and sand, indulge in some delicious seafood and enjoy the lively beach culture.
Finish your trip by exploring the charming capital city of Panaji, located on the banks of the Mandovi River. Take a leisurely stroll through the colorful Fontainhas district, full of narrow lanes, old Portuguese-era houses, and charming cafes and art galleries. Visit the Shri Mangeshi Temple, one of the most popular Hindu temples in Goa, and take a sunset cruise along the picturesque Mandovi River.
If you have extra time, you can add a visit to the Dudhsagar Falls, try water sports at Baga Beach, or explore the beaches of South Goa. If you have less time, you can skip the spice plantation tour or the sunset cruise. Keep in mind that most of the heritage churches in Old Goa close by 6 pm, so plan accordingly.
