After watching the sunrise, take a walk on the rocky beach and experience the serenity of the place. Later, head to the Kumari Amman Temple, a 3000-year-old temple dedicated to the virgin goddess Kanyakumari. The architecture of the temple is a beautiful blend of Tamil and Kerala styles. Finish the day by watching the sunset from the Vivekananda Rock Memorial. The Memorial is accessible only by boat and is a great place to end the day.

  2. Day 2: Padmanabhapuram Palace and Tiruvanadhapuram
1 hour 10 minutes (50 km) from Kanyakumari Bus Stand

Start the day by visiting the Padmanabhapuram Palace, a well-preserved 16th-century wooden palace and the ancient capital of Travancore. See the impressive collection of antiques, weapons, and woodcarvings that are on display in the palace. After exploring the palace, head to the Sri Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Tiruvanadhapuram. The temple is one of the wealthiest in India and is famous for its 500-tonne gold-covered sanctum. The temple is also home to a 6m-long reclining idol of Lord Vishnu.
