Escape to the serene Kuruva Island, situated along the Kabini River. Explore the densely forested landmass comprising 12 islands connected with suspended bridges. Experience the unspoiled, serene environment as you take a boat ride on the river. Trek through the forest trails and cool off with a dip in the freshwater streams.
Embark on an adventurous trek to the Chembra Peak, the highest peak in Wayanad. Observe the lush tea plantations and spot occasional wildlife as you hike up the mountain. Take a break at “Heart-shaped Lake,” and enjoy the panoramic view of Wayanad from the top. Note that permission from the forest department is required to trek Chembra Peak as they only allow limited entries per day.
If you have more time in Wayanad, add a visit to Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary for a thrilling safari experience. Or check out the Banasura Sagar Dam, India’s largest earth dam. If you have less time, remove the Kuruva Island visit and spend more time at other destinations. Don't forget to wear comfortable forest-friendly shoes and carry water bottles to keep you hydrated throughout the trek.
