Ramalingavilasam Palace, located in Ramnad, was built in the 17th century and served as the official residence of the Sethupathi rulers of Ramnad. The palace is an excellent example of Dravidian architecture and has beautiful murals and sculptures. Visitors can see the king's durbar hall, which features a large throne and intricate woodwork. The palace also has a museum with artifacts from the Sethupathi dynasty and a fascinating collection of vintage cars.
Vettangudi Bird Sanctuary is a paradise for birdwatchers and nature lovers. The sanctuary is home to a variety of migratory and resident birds, including egrets, cormorants, pelicans, and painted storks. Visitors can explore the sanctuary on foot or by boat. The scenic beauty of the sanctuary is breathtaking, and the peaceful surroundings make it an excellent place to relax and unwind.
If you have more time, you can visit Sathanur Gandhi museum and Gandhi Memorial Museum. If you have less time, you can visit the Muthupettai Mangroves bird sanctuary and the Ramnad municipal park. They are closer to Ramnad bus station and do not require much time to explore. Do not forget to carry insect repellent and sunscreen when visiting Vettangudi Bird Sanctuary.
