The Seaside Promenade, also known as the Beach Promenade, is a scenic seafront walkway that stretches for several kilometres along Puducheri's coastline. Along the way, visitors can take in stunning views of the Bay of Bengal, as well as several notable landmarks, such as the 19th-century lighthouse and the War Memorial. The promenade is also a popular spot for street performers, food vendors, and souvenir sellers.
The Botanical Garden is home to a vast array of plant species from all over the world, as well as several historic landmarks, including a fossilized tree trunk that is over 20 million years old. Visitors can take a leisurely stroll through the gardens to admire the flora and fauna, or attend one of the many educational events and workshops that take place throughout the year.
If you have more time, consider adding a visit to the Matrimandir, a striking gold-domed structure that is the centerpiece of the Auroville spiritual community. Alternatively, you could explore the French Quarter, with its narrow streets, colourful architecture, and boutique shops. If you have less time, consider skipping the Pondicherry Museum and spending more time at the Seaside Promenade or Botanical Garden. Remember to wear comfortable shoes and bring sunscreen and water, as temperatures can be high in Puducheri.
