Banasura Sagar Dam is India's largest earthen dam, nestled snugly amid imposing mountain ranges and dense forest cover. Chembra Peak is the highest peak in Wayanad, perched at an altitude of about 2100 meters above sea level. Trekking through the tea plantations, the crystal-clear waters of the Chembra lake is an excellent way to indulge in fun and adventure during the visit.
If you have more time, you can also visit Edakkal Caves, Pookode Lake and Meenmutti Waterfalls which are near Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary. If you have less time, Banasura Sagar Dam and Kuruvadweep can be seen in a single day. Keep an insect repellent as the forests near Kuruvadweep have mosquitoes. Visitors can also carry foods and snacks as there are limited food options available. It is recommended to start early in the morning to avoid the crowd as the spots will be crowded towards afternoon.
