4-Day Itinerary for Wayanad

  1. Day 1: Edakkal Caves
    30 minutes (12.4 km) from Kalpetta

    Start your trip with a visit to the Edakkal Caves, which consist of ancient rock etchings dating back over 5000 years. The cave is located 1200 meters above sea level and requires a 30-minute trek uphill. The view from the top of the hill is spectacular, making the climb worth the effort.

  2. Day 2: Chembra Peak
    1 hour (20 km) from Edakkal Caves

    Head to Chembra Peak, the highest peak in Wayanad, and enjoy a trek through the tea plantations and dense forests. The Trek to the top of the peak takes around 3-4 hours, but the panoramic view of the Wayanad district from the top is breathtaking.

  3. Day 3: Thirunelli Temple
    1 hour 40 minutes (52.1 km) from Chembra Peak

    Visit the Thirunelli Temple, an ancient and historic temple nestled in the Brahmagiri Hills. The temple is believed to have been built by Lord Brahma himself and is surrounded by lush green forests and scenic beauty. Take a dip in the Papanasini river that flows beside the temple to cleanse your sins.

  4. Day 4: Banasura Sagar Dam
    1 hour 30 minutes (38.3km) from Thirunelli Temple

    End your trip with a visit to the Banasura Sagar Dam, which is the largest earth dam in India and the second-largest in Asia. Take a speedboat ride through the dam's reservoir, enjoy the view from the watchtower and trek to the top of the nearby hills.
