Start your morning with a scenic 45-minute drive to Agasthyakoodam, a 1868-meter-high peak in the Western Ghats. The trek up the mountain is strenuous, but is a wonderful experience for adventurous families. The trek provides a good bird’s eye view of the surroundings as well as sightings of some rare bird species.
After breakfast, head to the Butterfly Park to enjoy a peaceful morning stroll surrounded by colorful butterflies and the scents of beautiful flowers. The park is spread over 2.5 hectares and it houses over 62 different species of butterflies. It will be an entertaining experience for children as they learn about nature and its wonders.
If you have more time, consider visiting Palaruvi Falls, a majestic waterfall located 26km from Thenmalai. For families with younger children, you can swap the trek up Agasthyakoodam with a visit to the Kallar Kahathode Ecotourism project, where you can enjoy a cookout and a swim in the Kallar River.
