The Banasura Sagar Dam is the largest earth dam in India and one of the major tourist attractions in Wayanad. The dam offers stunning views of the surrounding hills and the Banasura Lake. You can go boating in the lake or trek in the surrounding hills to get a better view of the natural beauty. There's also a small island within the reservoir which is accessible via boats. You can try adventure sports like zip-lining, trekking, archery, and other activities available here.
The Edakkal Caves, discovered around the 1900s, feature exquisite prehistoric rock art and are one of the largest tourist spots visited in Wayanad. The caves are situated at an elevation of 1200 meters above sea-level, and offer stunning views of the surrounding hills and valleys. The Soochipara Waterfalls is another magnificent natural beauty in Wayanad that's located close to the Edakkal caves. The falls cascade down a beautiful rocky terrain and offer breathtaking views of the valley below. You could take a dip in the pool formed by the waterfall, go for trekking in the surrounding forests, or just sit back and relax.
If you have more time, you could explore other major tourist spots in Wayanad like the Kuruvadweep Island, Chembra Peak, and Pookode Lake. If you have less time, you could skip the Soochipara Waterfalls and spend more time at the other two attractions. It's also recommended to carry a camera to take beautiful pictures.
