Hogenakkal Falls is a stunning waterfall on the Kaveri River that drops from a height of 65 feet. Enjoy a boat ride or coracle ride near the falls and witness its majestic beauty up close. The falls are also famous for its medicinal baths and a dip here is said to have healing properties for the body. You can also take a refreshing swim or hike around the area.
The Vellore Fort is a 16th-century fortress built by the Vijayanagara Kings and was later occupied by the British. It is a well-preserved complex that showcases the architectural and cultural heritage of the area. Walk through the ramparts, explore the Deccan-style temples and mosques, and visit the excellent Government Museum inside the fort. The museum displays a collection of sculptures, weapons, coins, and artifacts from various dynasties that have ruled the region.
If you have an additional day, you can visit the Jalakandeswarar Temple, a beautiful temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in Vellore. You can also plan a day trip to Yelagiri Hills for some trekking and scenic views.
If you have less time, you can skip Vellore and head straight to Hogenakkal Falls early in the morning to spend more time there. Take note that the falls are closed during the monsoon season from July to September, so plan accordingly.
