Ooty Lake is a perfect spot to start your nature trip. Spread across 65 acres, it is surrounded by lush green trees on all sides and offers a serene view. You can take a boat ride, go for a walk, or even enjoy a picnic. Make sure to visit the Deer Park, which is inside the lake premises, where you can observe different species of deer.
Doddabetta Peak is the highest peak in the Nilgiri mountains and offers an awe-inspiring view of the valley. The peak is surrounded by beautiful tea gardens, and you can admire the views from a telescope house at the peak. It's an effortless trekking that takes around 1 hour for a round trip. Ensure to bring some warm clothes as it's colder here.
Avalanche Lake is a serene spot that offers an incredible view of rolling hills and numerous cascading waterfalls. It is located in the upper part of the Nilgiris and is surrounded by the forest, making it a perfect nature trail for trekking enthusiasts. You can take a 4x4 jeep ride or even hike to reach the lake.
If you have more time, you may consider venues like Government Botanical Gardens, Sim's Park, or Needle Rock Viewpoint. However, you can also skip Avalanche lake and spend more time in Botanical gardens to see the varieties of plants and flowers. If you have less time, you may skip Doddabetta peak, but try not to miss Ooty Lake. Wear appropriate shoes on Day 3 if you plan to hike to the lake.
