Start your day exploring the ancient heritage site of Hampi, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The ruins are spread over 25 km² and include more than 1600 surviving remains of the last great Hindu kingdom.
Head over to Laughing Buddha, a vegetarian-friendly restaurant that serves delicious Indian and continental cuisine. The ambiance is laid back with outdoor seating and bamboo huts. Don’t forget to try their thin crust pizza!
Located at the Hampi Bazaar, the temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and was also built in the 7th century. The intricate architecture and intricate carvings make it a perfect spot for photography buffs.
A short trek up Matanga Hill gives you a panoramic view of Hampi. There’s a small Himavat Kedaya temple at the top. It’s advisable to wear comfortable shoes for the trek and carry drinking water.
Located at the birthplace of Lord Hanuman, the hill offers a beautiful view. It’s a popular spot for locals and tourists for the sunset owing to its quiet location. You can also see the Tungabhadra river from the top.
Add an hour or two if you want to explore more of Hampi. You can rent a scooter or a bicycle at Hampi Bazaar. Do not miss out on the coracle boat ride at Sanapur lake or the light and sound show at Hampi. Subtract Anjaneya Hill if you're running late for your train.
