Absorb the sun, sand and sea on the Cherai Beach. This less crowded beach offers a length of soft sand with serene waves. Relax all day and experience the quiet town beach-side lifestyle. Cherai Beach is a complete de-stress from the hustle-bustle of the city.
The Hill Palace Museum is the largest archaeological museum in Kerala. Its history dates back to over 200 years - as the residence of the Kochi royal family. Now the museum houses a wide range of historical pieces including royal artifacts, paintings, and sculptures. A guided tour of the vast display of exhibits and the landscape garden is a good way to spend your day.
The Indo-Portuguese Museum preserves and displays the rich cultural history of the Indo-Portuguese community that lived in the area. The rare artifacts include altarpieces, antique jewelry, and other items crafted by the Portuguese. Visitors can immerse in the history of international trade relations that shaped Kochi’s past. The relaxed and low-key atmosphere of the museum is good for winding down the day.
If you have more time, consider visiting the Fort Kochi area, and take a sunset walk at the Chinese Fishing Nets. The cultural street walk in Jew Town, and visit to the nearby spice markets could also mean an enjoyable day. Similarly, you can visit the nearby St. Francis Church, or the Jewish cemetery.
For a shorter itinerary, you can skip either the Mattancherry Palace, Hill Palace Museum, or the Indo-Portuguese Museum. However, we recommend all four for a fulfilling and relaxing two-day experience.
