Begin day one with a hike to the Chembra Peak, the highest peak in Wayanad. Enjoy stunning views of lush forests and nearby foothills. The trek to the top is challenging, and it takes about three hours, but it's worth the effort. Take a break at Heart-Shaped Lake and continue to the summit. Note: Treks are closed during the monsoon season from June to August.
On day two, take a jeep or elephant safari through the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary. Spot Asian elephants, Bengal tigers, sloth bears, and many other species of animals and birds. You can also visit the Chethalayam Waterfalls, located inside the sanctuary. Remember that safaris are canceled during heavy rain.
Finish the trip with a boat ride across the Banasura Sagar Dam, the second-largest earthen dam in Asia. Admire the scenic beauty of the turquoise waters surrounded by lush green hills and take pictures of the dam from the Viewpoint. You can also visit the nearby Meenmutty Falls, a three-tier waterfall located deep in the forest. The falls are closed during monsoon season.
If you have more time, add a coffee plantation tour or visit the Edakkal Caves. If you have less time, skip the Meenmutty Falls and the Viewpoint at Banasura Sagar Dam. Avoid visiting during the monsoon season as treks and falls may be closed.
