The Ridge is a spacious open-air platform that offers an unobstructed view of the snow-capped Himalayan range. Surrounded by the railway track, The Ridge is the heart of Shimla, with several famous landmarks, including the Lakkar Bazar and Mehfil Restaurant, located in the vicinity. It’s the perfect place to relax, unwind and capture some stunning pictures of nature’s beauty.
The Glen is a beautiful nature park spread across 4 km and is located at a distance of 2.5 km from the Ridge. This serene place offers an ideal escape from the chaotic Shimla. Nestled in a forest of pine and deodar trees, it features a calm stream with small waterfalls and bridges, adding to the beauty of the surrounding landscape. This location offers an excellent opportunity for a leisurely picnic. Fun fact - The park is named after a stream, which comes from the Chaura Maidan area.
If you have more time, then a visit to Christ Church, Viceregal Lodge and the Himalayan Bird Park – all in close proximity – should be on your list of things to explore. Kotkhai Palace and Kiala Forest are also worth visiting. If you have less time, you can skip Mehfil Restaurant and try some street food, such as samosas and momos, which cost relatively less and are a treat to the tastebuds. One can also go for a stroll on Mall Road that has many popular shops and eateries.
