Mullayanagiri is the highest peak in Karnataka, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding verdant hills and valleys. It is a trekker's paradise; a 3 km trek through rugged terrain takes you to the summit. You can also take a jeep ride to the hilltop. The peak is misty and cool even during summer, so carry warm clothes. Be sure to visit the famous Sitalayyanagiri Temple, located at the foot of the hill.
Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary is a protected reserve located amidst the Western Ghats. It is home to diverse flora and fauna, including tigers, elephants, leopards, and butterflies. You can take a jeep or bus safari to explore the sanctuary, go bird watching, or indulge in coracle rides. The region is also popular for its coffee plantations, so make sure to stop by one of the plantations for a tour and tasting.
If you have additional time, visit the Hebbe Falls, a magnificent waterfall located in a picturesque valley. But note that the falls are closed during monsoons (June-September). Alternatively, you can visit Kemmangundi Hill Station on Day 2, which offers spectacular views, beautiful gardens, and a popular trek to the Z Point. If you have less time, skip Mullayanagiri trek and visit the Baba Budangiri hill range, known for its picturesque landscape and religious significance.
