Start your day by exploring the local market in McLeodganj, where you will find a variety of Tibetan handicrafts, prayer flags, incense, and clothing to take home as souvenirs. Later, take a nature walk while exploring the scenic views of the mountains, river, and the surrounding forests. One of the popular nature trails is the Bhagsu Waterfall Trek, which takes about 2 hours and is easy for families with children over 6 years of age. The trek starts from Bhagsu village, where you can also unwind and relax at Bhagsu Waterfall.
On Day 2, embark on a trek to Triund Hill, which is one of the most popular treks in the Dhauladhar range and is suitable for beginners and families. The trek starts from McLeodganj, and offers breathtaking panoramic views of the valley, snow-capped peaks, and the stunning natural beauty of the region. After reaching the summit, enjoy a warm cup of tea and Maggi while taking in the stunning views of the sunset. Later, stay back for stargazing with your family at the hilltop campsite. `
Day 3 is all about exploring the local waterfalls and rivers of the McLeodganj region. Start your day by visiting the Kangra Art Museum, which showcases the rich culture, heritage, and art of the Kangra Valley. Next, visit the scenic Norbulingka Institute, which is a Vajrayana Buddhist center dedicated to preserving Tibetan culture. Later, visit the Devi Falls and Pong Dam, which are popular spots for picnicking, swimming, and boating. Finish the day with an authentic Himachali meal at the famous Lung Ta Japanese restaurant.
On the final day, indulge in some adventure activities at the Him Valley Amusement and Cultural Park in Sangti Valley. Here, you can enjoy go-karting, zip-lining, Burma Bridge, and other fun activities with your family. Later, visit the Kangra Fort, which is one of the oldest forts in India, and learn about its history and architecture. Finally, treat your taste buds with a traditional Himachali meal at the Tibet Kitchen or one of the local food stalls, which serve momos, thukpa, chowmein, and other Tibetan delicacies.
If you have more time, you can explore the nearby Dal Lake, Kareri Lake, and Naddi Village. For families with young children, it's recommended to avoid the Triund trek and instead explore the Bhagsu Waterfall, Dalai Lama Temple Complex, and the local museums and monasteries. If you have less time, skip the Kangra Fort and visit the Tea Gardens and Tshuglagkhang Complex instead.
