Sonprayag, also known as the gateway to Kedarnath, is a picturesque location located amidst stunning mountain ranges. This small town offers an ideal stopover for the pilgrims travelling to Kedarnath. Visit Trijuginarayan Temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu, and also where Lord Shiva and Parvati were married. The Gauri Kund, a natural hot spring and a refreshing bath can be taken.
Visit the sacred Kedarnath Temple, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas. The temple stands at the height of 3,583 meters, amidst the mesmerising snow-cover mountain ranges. The trek to the temple is also an exciting experience, with the picturesque views throughout the trail.
Start the journey back to Sonprayag, following the same trail taken before. This will be the perfect opportunity to take another dip at Gaurikund and indulge in some local delicacies in Sonprayag.
Take a day to explore the spiritual city of Rishikesh, also known as the yoga capital of the world. Visit the colourful Triveni Ghat, which holds the confluence of three holy rivers Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati. Experience the tranquillity at the Beatles Ashram, a place the famous band visited in the 1960s, and admire the unique street arts.
This itinerary is best suited to go between April and June or September-October when the weather is pleasant, and Kedarnath Temple is open for pilgrimage.
