  • Day 1: Noumea
    1 hour (25 miles) from La Tontouta International Airport

    Kick-start your volunteering project in Noumea. You can get to know the city, its culture, and its social needs. Visit the local cultural centre, the Jean-Marie Tjibaou Cultural Centre, which has an impressive collection of artworks and galleries showcasing the indigenous Kanak people. Head on to Anse Vata Beach and visit the Noumea Aquarium to learn more about New Caledonia's ocean flora and fauna.

  • Day 2: Lifou Island
    Ferry from Noumea to Lifou Island (25 miles, 1 hour).

    Volunteering on Lifou Island provides an opportunity to experience island life, learn about different cultures, and get involved with local schools, conservation projects, or the turtle sanctuary. After volunteering, visit the Jokin Cliffs to get panoramic views of the ocean, or relax on the white sandy beaches at Jinek Bay or Chateaubriand Bay.

  • Day 3: Isle of Pines
    Ferry from Lifou Island (105 miles, 4 hours).

    Volunteer at the Isle of Pines and make a difference in the lives of the locals while immersing yourself in the traditional culture, music, and dance. After volunteering, head to the natural pool, Oro Bay, and swim in its crystal-clear waters. Take a hike through the Nokanhui Trail to observe the flora, fauna, and Kanak rock art.

  • Day 4: Koné
    Flight from Ile des Pins to Koné (205 miles, 1 hour).

    Travel to the small town of Koné to volunteer at a local charity or community centre. After volunteering, visit the Path of the Talipot Palms, an impressive trail lined with 400 ancient ferns and the unique Talipot palm. Take a detour to the Lindéralique Cultural Village to see traditional Kanak huts, and learn about the tribe's customs and livelihoods.

  • Day 5: Bourail
    45 minutes (27 miles) from Koné.

    Volunteer at a local school or sports complex in Bourail to help the young people in the community. After volunteering, take a horseback ride along the white sandy beach at Poé Beach, or swim in the picturesque Butin Bay. Visit the Tiéti botanical garden, which has over 500 plant species.

  • Day 6: Northern Province
    2 hour (77 miles) from Bourail.

    Head to the Northern Province and volunteer in a remote village with the local tribe. Get exposed to their lifestyle, customs and lead experience share sessions with them. Visit the Poum historical lighthouse, with its remarkable panoramic view of the ocean. Relax and take in the sights at the Tchamba Basin Beach.

  • Day 7: Return to Noumea
    5 hours (215 miles) from Northern Province.

    Return to Noumea and visit its sights again. Indulge in some local cuisine and wander around the lively markets, and perhaps collect some souvenirs. Take a walk along the promenade or visit the famous Ouen Toro viewpoint to end your volunteering trip to the New Caledonia islands in style.

New Caledonia's main international airport is La Tontouta International Airport (NOU), located in Païta about 25 miles north-west of capital Noumea on the mainland. The Magenta Airport (GEA) serves domestic flights within New Caledonia and is around three miles north-west of Noumea's city centre.
