Umananda Island is the smallest river island in the Brahmaputra and is accessible through a boat ride. The island is home to the Umananda Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and offers a serene escape from the city's hustle-bustle. Visitors can take a stroll along the island's walking trail, watch the river flow by, and relax in the tranquility of the place.
For those with more time, you can visit the Assam State Zoo cum Botanical Garden and enjoy a day amidst nature. Try Assamese cuisine, especially the fish curry, bamboo shoot pickle, and pithas (rice cakes). Those with less time can drop Sualkuchi Village from the itinerary. Note that the Kamakhya Temple is closed from 1 pm to 2:30 pm.
