3-Day Varkala Train Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Varkala Cliff Beach
    15 minutes (5.9 km) from Varkala Railway Station

    Start your trip by visiting the famous Varkala Cliff Beach offering a stunning view of the Arabian Sea. Take a dip in the clear waters or just relax on the sandy beach.     Visit the famous Sivagiri Mutt, built in the memory of the great social reformer, Sree Narayana Guru. The mutt showcases his beliefs and teachings through a museum and a light and sound show. Next, head to the Janardhana Swamy Temple, a 2000-year-old temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu and his avatar, Janardhana Swamy. The intricate carvings and artwork around the temple are a visual treat.

  3. Day 3: Ponnumthuruthu Island and Kappil Beach
    30 minutes (14 km) from Sivagiri Mutt

    On your final day, take a boat ride to the Ponnumthuruthu Island, popularly known as the Golden Island. The island is home to an ancient Shiva-Parvathi temple, surrounded by lush greenery and quiet backwaters. Later, visit the Kappil Beach, a secluded beach, which offers picturesque views of the backwaters and the ocean. You can relax under the shade of palm trees, or take a stroll across the sandy shores.
