Two-Day Itinerary for Wayanad

  1. Day 1: Chembra Peak
    45 minutes (12 miles) from Edakkal Caves

    Begin your day early with a hike to the Chembra peak, the highest peak in Wayanad. It is a moderate trek and takes about 3 hours to reach the summit. Once you reach the peak, enjoy the breathtaking views of the Banasura Sagar Dam and the surrounding hills. Make sure to carry adequate water and snacks for the trek. In the afternoon, head to Pookode Lake, a serene lake surrounded by lush green forests. Take a boat ride and relax in the serene atmosphere. You can also visit the adjoining children's park if you are traveling with kids.

  2. Day 2: Edakkal Caves
    1 hour (23 miles) from Soochipara Falls

    Start your second day by visiting the historic Edakkal Caves, located on top of Ambukutty Mala. These caves have pictorial wall inscriptions from as early as 5000 BCE and it's a great place for history enthusiasts. The trek to the caves is slightly steep and takes about an hour. After exploring the caves, head to the Soochipara Falls, a natural waterfall surrounded by lush green forests. It's a great place to relax and enjoy the natural surroundings. You can also take a dip in the pool below the falls.
