Experience India's largest Asian elephant training camp: the Dubare Elephant Camp. Visitors have the opportunity to feed, bathe and partake in the daily routines of elephants living in the camp. Also, families can go on short elephant rides within the camp. The camp is nestled in a lush green forest on the banks of the River Cauvery.
Nagarhole National Park is a protected wildlife sanctuary and declared a Tiger Reserve. Visitors can take a jeep safari which starts at 6:30 AM and 3:00 PM. The duration of the safari is around 3-4 hours and which will go through deep forests, valleys, and lush green landscapes to view wild animals like tigers, leopards, and elephants. Other activities include bird watching, nature walk, and coracle ride across the Kabini river.
Edakkal Caves consists of two natural rock formations in the Ambukuthi hills, where visitors can find ancient stone carvings. Visitors need to trek both the hills to reach the caves which require a lot of stamina. Later, Visit Kuruva Island is a group of uninhabited islands located in the middle of Kabini river. The highlight of the island is a natural walking bridge made of rafts and bamboo, stretching up to 350 feet. Enjoy the greenery, the cool breeze and the sound of flowing water.
Add an extra day to explore Coorg or Wayanad in detail. There are other notable places like Abbey Falls and Talakaveri in Coorg, whereas Banasura Sagar Dam and Pookode Lake in Wayanad. If you have less time, skip the Kuruva Island, which is further away from Nagarhole National Park. Check the opening and closing times before finalizing the itinerary.
