Soochipara Falls, also called Sentinel Rock Waterfall, is a three-tiered waterfall cascading down from a height of 200 meters. It is located in the middle of a dense forest and can only be reached after a 20-minute trek. Swim in the waterfall's pools and enjoy the scenic view of Wayanad. Please note that swimming may not be allowed during heavy rains and peak monsoon season.
Chembra Peak, the highest peak in Wayanad, is one of the best places for trekking and camping. Enjoy the panoramic view of the entire Wayanad from the top of the peak. The trek is a bit strenuous and requires a minimum of 6-7 hours to reach the hilltop and return. Please note that permission is required from the district authorities to trek to Chembra Peak.
Banasura Sagar Dam is the largest earth dam in India, located amidst the Banasura hills. It offers various activities like speed boating, trekking, and pedal boating. Trek to the nearby hills to enjoy the beautiful panoramic view of the entire region. Trekking here is an adventurous activity with untamed trails through dense forests.
If you have more time, visit Edakkal Caves which has ancient petroglyphs dating back to the Neolithic era. You can also take an early morning trek to the beautiful sunrise point at Thusharagiri Waterfalls. Adventure junkies can try out bamboo rafting in Kuruva Island, where birds and butterflies can also be spotted. If you have less time, you can skip Chembra Peak and visit Meenmutty Waterfalls instead.
