Ahmedabad is the largest city in Gujarat and a hub of history and culture. Visit the Sabarmati Ashram where Mahatma Gandhi lived and spread his message of non-violence. Continue to the Jama Masjid; built-in 1424, it's one of the oldest and most famous mosques in India. Next head out to the Kankaria Lake with a zoo, toy train, and other attractions for kids. End the day with some shopping in the old city at the Manek Chowk Market
Start the day in Vadodara by visiting the Laxmi Vilas Palace; a grand palace spread over 700 acres, built-in 1890, and four times the size of Buckingham Palace. Continue to the Baroda Museum and Picture Gallery which has collections ranging from the Mughal era to modern art. Afterward, head towards the Sursagar Lake, a picturesque man-made lake, and enjoy a relaxing boat ride. End the day with some street food at the Mandvi Gate.
Visit the spiritual town of Somnath that houses the Somnath Temple, one of the twelve Jyotirlinga shrines of Lord Shiva in India. The temple has a fascinating history and houses some of the best examples of Chalukya architecture. After a visit to the temple, spend a relaxed evening at the Somnath Beach, stroll on the beach, enjoy the cool breeze, and catch the sunset. If you have more time in Ahmedabad, visit the Adalaj Stepwell and the Sidi Saiyyed Mosque for some amazing architectural designs. In Vadodara, you can also visit the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, which houses one of the most beautiful campuses in India. For Somnath, you can extend your stay and visit the picturesque Dwarka city which also houses one of the Jyotirlinga shrines. For those with less time, you can skip the Museums and allocate the time for some shopping or exploring local cuisines.
