Start your first day by visiting the highest organic tea plantation in the world at Kolukkumalai Tea Estate. This plantation has been in existence since the early 1900s and is known for its high-quality tea leaves. Take a guided tour of the estate where you can learn about the process of tea making and the history of the plantation. After the tour, enjoy a cup of hot, freshly brewed tea while admiring the panoramic views of the hills and valleys below.
On your second day, visit Shola National Park, home to several endangered species of flora and fauna. Take a guided tour of the park where you'll get an opportunity to spot animals like leopards, elephants, and dholes, as well as several species of birds. The park also has several trekking trails of varying difficulty levels and offers camping facilities for those who wish to spend the night under the stars. Don't forget to pack a picnic lunch to enjoy amidst the tranquil surroundings.
If you have more time, you can visit other tea plantations in the area such as Lockhart Tea Estate and Chokkanmudi Tea Estate. For those interested in adventure activities, you can also go on a Jeep Safari to Veerappan's Cave or go paragliding in the nearby town of Vagamon. If you have less time, skip the guided tour of the tea estate and head directly to the viewpoint for a cup of tea and stunning views. Additionally, if you're short on time on day 2, you can skip the trek and opt for a nature walk around the park's entrance.
