Begin your journey in Ujjain by visiting the Mahakaleshwar Temple, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas in India. It opens at 4:00 AM for Bhasm Aarti, so you can experience the spiritual atmosphere early in the morning. Afterward, head to the Kal Bhairav Temple, which is dedicated to Lord Shiva's fierce form. This temple is famous for its unique architecture and mysterious history. Next, visit the Chintaman Ganesh Temple, one of the most visited temples in Ujjain. It is believed that Lord Ganesha self-manifested in this temple. Finally, explore the Siddhavat, a holy tree, which is believed to fulfill devotees' wishes.
On your second day, visit the Bhartrihari Caves. These caves were the meditation spot of Bhartrihari, who was the stepbrother of King Vikramaditya. It's a peaceful place with scenic surroundings. Next, head to the Harsiddhi Temple, which dates back to ancient times and is famous for its architecture and divinity. Afterward, visit Vikram Kirti Mandir, a museum that depicts the history of Ujjain and King Vikramaditya. There are also displays highlighting the achievements of India's leaders and scientists.
On your last day, first visit the Kaliadeh Palace which is situated beside the Shipra River, offering a beautiful view of the water. It was built in the 15th century for the pleasure of the kings. Next, head to the Vedh Shala, an ancient observatory built by Maharaja Jai Singh II. Finally, visit the Nanakheda Bus Stand for some shopping of Ujjain's famous products and souvenirs.
If you have more time, you can also visit the Dwarkadhish Temple, Jantar Mantar, Mangalnath Temple, and ISKCON Ujjain. For a leisurely experience, take a boat ride on the Shipra River near the Kaliadeh Palace. If you have less time, you can skip the shopping at Nanakheda Bus Stand and Dwarkadhish Temple. However, do not skip the Mahakaleshwar Temple and Kaliadeh Palace as they are a must-visit. Ujjain is a historical city, so make sure to carry a camera and wear comfortable shoes.
