Spend the first day exploring Alleppey Beach. Enjoy the gentle waves and the peaceful atmosphere. Take a walk along the shore at sunset and try some beach activities. There are also a few cafes nearby to enjoy some refreshments.
The Alleppey backwaters are a pristine network of lagoons, lakes, and canals. You can hire a houseboat, which is a popular way to explore the backwaters. The houseboats come with a crew and amenities, including meals. Alternatively, you can opt for a motorboat or canoe. You can witness local life, watch the fishermen working, and pass beautiful villages.
Visit the Krishnapuram Palace, and marvel at its stunning architecture. This palace is famous for its mural paintings, especially the "Gajendra Moksham" mural, which measures 14 feet by 11 feet. This palace also has a museum that displays antiques, statues, coins, and other historical artefacts. The garden surrounding the palace is beautiful, and you can sit here and enjoy the tranquillity.
If you have more time, you can visit the Pathiramanal Island or the Alappuzha Lighthouse. You can also opt for some Ayurvedic massages or try some local Keralite cuisine. If you have less time, you can skip the Krishnapuram Palace and visit the Punnamada Lake instead.
