Start your journey by visiting Thirumalai Nayakkar Mahal, a 17th-century palace built by King Thirumalai Nayak. Drive to Echo Point in Munnar, a scenic lake surrounded by rolling hills and tea plantations. Enjoy the tranquil surroundings and listen to your voice echo across the hills. Next, head to Kundala Dam Lake, located about 20 minutes from Echo Point. Take a leisurely walk or boat ride, admire the lush greenery and the sparkling blue water of the lake while enjoying fresh local snacks.
Begin your day by visiting Eravikulam National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the largest conservation area of the Nilgiri Tahr, a rare mountain goat species. Trek to the peak, explore the lush green slopes, and spot a plethora of rare flora and fauna species. Next, head to Top Station for a panoramic view of the Western Ghats. Enjoy the stunning views of the mountains, lush valleys and watch the clouds below. End your day in Munnar by exploring the local markets and trying traditional food at the street vendors.
If you have a few additional days on your hands, consider adding Thekkady to your itinerary, which is located about 3 hours (110 km) from Munnar. You can visit the Periyar National Park, take a boat ride on the Periyar lake, and experience the wildlife of the Western Ghats.
If you're short on time, omit Thirumalai Nayakkar Mahal from the itinerary and reach Munnar early on day one to cover Echo Point, Kundala Dam Lake, and Top Station on the same day.
