Begin your trip in this historic area by visiting the Fort Kochi Beach, one of the prime attractions in the area. Walk along the beach with the cool sea breeze and enjoy the mesmerizing sunset view. Head to the Dutch Palace, which is home to a beautiful collection of murals and paintings of the Cochin Raja and can be completed in an hour. Take a walk to the nearby spice market to visit the Jewish Synagogue, India's oldest functional synagogue built-in 1568. Roam around the market area, which is full of colourful artefacts and fabrics. End the day with a grand Kathakali performance at the Kathakali Centre.
Start your day by visiting the Chinese Fishing Nets, which are unique to Kochi. These nets are used for fishing by the local fishermen and the area is especially busy during the mornings. Walk to the St. Francis Church, where the explorer Vasco da Gama was initially buried and experience the magnificent architecture of this ancient church. Take a boat ride to see more of Kochi's historic landmarks from the water. Afterwards, proceed to Marine Drive, whichis an expansive pathway running along the shore of the Arabian Sea, popular with both locals and tourists - it's an ideal spot for a walk or jog. End your day with some world-famous Keralan cuisine from the Fort House Restaurant.
If you have additional time to spare, you can visit the nearby Athirapally Falls, which takes around 2 hours (60 km) from Kochi. You can also visit the Hill Palace Museum or the Kerala Folklore Museum if you are interested in history and culture. If you have limited time, you can skip the Jewish Synagogue or Fort Kochi Beach and focus on other landmarks.
