Start your cultural tour by visiting the Fort Kochi where you can observe colonial architecture. Then, move to the ancient 16th-century Paradesi Synagogue with unique chandeliers and hand-painted tiles.
You can also explore the Dutch Palace, also known as the Mattancherry Palace, to check out the stunning murals of Ramayana and Mahabharata. End your day touring the traditional Chinese fishing nets on the waterfront. Make sure to arrive when the fishermen are trying to catch their catch, and you should expect to negotiate prices for the fish.
Start your day visiting the historic landmarks focusing on ancient natural operations and travel to the spice trading heart of Kerala, Matancherry Palace. The palace was founded by the Portuguese, and then it went through various renovations by the Dutch.
Then you may want to go ahead and visit another significant landmark, the Hill Palace Museum. The museum showcases the magnificent artworks of the emperors of the Kochi royal dynasty dating to more than 2000 years.
Finally, visit the Kathakali Center, where you will witness a significant art form of Kerala - Kathakali. It is a traditional dance drama native to Kerala with distinctive makeup and colorful costumes. If time permits, you can also take a brief lecture and get your makeup done in Kathakali style.
If you have more time, do not miss the Marine Drive for a leisurely walk along the sea. The shopping district of Kochi, Broadway Market, is also an excellent place to pick up souvenirs.
