Discovering Calicut in 2 Days

  1. Day 1: Exploring the Historical Sites

    Begin your trip by visiting the famous Kappad Beach, known for its stunning sunset views and tranquil shores. This beach was the place where Vasco da Gama, the Portuguese explorer, landed in India in 1498. After spending some quality time on the beach, head to the Kadalundi Bird Sanctuary which is a haven for bird enthusiasts. Spread over a group of islands and covered with mangroves, the sanctuary is home to more than a hundred species of birds. Spend the evening at the Mananchira Square, a popular park that was once the palace ground of the Zamorins.

  2. Day 2: Exploring the Local Culture

    Start your day by visiting the Mishkal Mosque, an ancient mosque built in the 14th century which has stunning architecture and intricate carvings. Next, head over to the Calicut Gate, one of the four remaining gates from the old fort of Calicut. Visit the Mittai Theruvu, a well-known street that has a variety of sweet shops selling traditional sweets. Finally, spend your evening shopping and having dinner at the SM Street, the oldest commercial street in Calicut.
