Kodachadri is a beautiful mountain peak located in the Western Ghats. The trekking trail is around 13 km long, and it takes 5-6 hours to complete. You will pass through dense forests, waterfalls and view points. You can also visit the Mookambika Wildlife Sanctuary nearby to spot some exotic birds. The trek is worth the view of the sunset from the peak.
You can take a dip in the tranquil waters of Hidlumane falls. It is a secluded spot, with small crowds, making it a perfect place to relax. You can also have a picnic by the falls with your family and friends. The rocky terrain around the falls makes for a great trek.
The Nagara Fort stands tall amidst the forests of Kodachadri. The fort is around 500 years old and has rich history which is depicted in its inscriptions. You can enjoy a breathtaking view of the Western Ghats from the fort. The fort has four entrances including one to the secret passage that leads to the Arabian Sea.
If you have more time, you can explore other places such as the Mookambika Temple, or the Kollur backwaters. You can also camp at the Kodachadri peak with the necessary permits and equipment. If you have less time, you can skip Hidlumane Falls and visit the Kudachadri Temple. Wherever you go, make sure to carry enough water and food, as the locations are often remote and do not have many amenities.
