Start your day with a visit to Pagoda Point which is one of the most serene places in Yercaud. It is located at an altitude of 1128 meters and offers a breathtaking view of the hills and the town. The place is also known as Pyramid Point due to the presence of four piles of stones that are arranged like a pyramid. The peaceful atmosphere makes it a perfect place to relax and rejuvenate yourself amidst nature.
Drive down the beautiful Loop Road that takes you through the lush green forest and offers panoramic views of the valley. The road goes in a loop around the Shevaroy Hills and offers several viewpoints for you to stop and admire the scenic beauty. Don't forget to carry your camera to capture the stunning landscape.
Next, head to The Grange, which was once the summer residence of the former Governor of Chennai. The colonial-style bungalow is set amidst manicured gardens and offers a glimpse into the luxurious lifestyle of the British elite. You can also take a stroll through the coffee and spice plantations and enjoy the fresh aroma of the plants.
Spend your second day in Yercaud by visiting the Kiliyur Falls which is a natural waterfall located in the Eastern Ghats. The falls cascade down from a height of 300 feet and offer a breathtaking view of the surroundings. You can take a dip in the cool water pool or enjoy a picnic on the rocks surrounding it.
Last but not least, visit Lady's Seat which is one of the most popular viewpoints in Yercaud. It offers a panoramic view of the Salem town and the Mettur Dam. According to legend, Lady's Seat was once the favorite spot of a British lady who used to spend her evenings watching the sunset. The place has now been made into a park with several viewing decks and an observation tower. The serene environment makes it the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the sunset.
If you have more time, you can visit other places like the Deer Park, Sri Raja Rajeshwari Temple, and Horticulture Farm. However, if you have less time, you can skip The Grange and directly visit Kiliyur Falls. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and carry a water bottle with you. Avoid visiting during monsoon season as the roads can be slippery and dangerous.
