Visit Thottilkal Fort, a historical monument made out of red Laterite stones. Wander through the fortifications, and take in the beautiful vistas of the surrounding land from the watchtowers. You can also visit the onsite museum to learn more about the history of the fort.
Shop for souvenirs, traditional handicrafts, and sarongs at Thottilkal Market, the best marketplace in the town. The market is a hub of activity where you can mingle with locals, explore the various stalls, and bargain for the best deals.
If you have more time, consider visiting the Saraswathi Temple, and the nearby island Murudeshwara. In case you have less than a day to explore, you can skip the Thottilkal Fort as it will take you off your route.
