1. Day 1: Brihadeeswarar Temple
   10 minutes (3.8 km) from Tanjore Railway Station

   Brihadeeswarar Temple is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most significant temples in India dedicated to Lord Shiva. Known for its incredible architecture and intricate artwork, it was built during the 11th century. The massive temple tower stands tall at 66 meters and is the world's first granite temple. Visitors can explore the stone carvings, sculptures, and beautiful wall paintings that depict the stories of Hindu mythology. Witness the evening aarti that is performed every day at dusk.

2. Day 2: Thanjavur Palace and Art Gallery
   5 minutes (1.8 km) from Brihadeeswarar Temple

   The Thanjavur Palace was the official residence of the Nayak Kings of Thanjavur in the 16th century, later expanded by the Maratha Emperor, Sarfoji II. The palace complex comprises the Royal Museum, Art Gallery, and Saraswathi Mahal Library. The Royal Museum displays weapons, musical instruments, and costumes of the Maratha dynasty. The Art Gallery houses ancient paintings and sculptures from the Chola and Nayak periods. The Saraswathi Mahal Library houses over 44,000 palm-leaf manuscripts and rare books from around the world.
