One-day Itinerary for Exploring Guruvayoor

  1. 8:00AM: Guruvayoor Temple
    Located in the heart of Guruvayoor, Guruvayoor Temple is one of the most famous and revered temples in Kerala. It is believed that visiting this temple brings good luck and blessings from Lord Krishna. Make sure to wear traditional attire and remove footwear before entering the temple.

    The temple opens at 3:00AM every day for 'Nirmalyam' and the darshan queue is open till 1:30PM. Estimated time spent: 1.5 hours

  2. 10:00AM: Mammiyoor Mahadeva Kshetram
    Mammiyoor Mahadeva Kshetram, situated near Guruvayoor Temple, is another important pilgrimage center in Guruvayoor. It is believed that Lord Shiva himself resides here and devotees believe visiting the temple along with Guruvayoor Krishna temple is highly auspicious.

    The temple opens at 4:30AM and closes at 11:30AM, then again opens from 4:30PM to 8:30PM. Estimated time spent: 1 hour

  3. 12:00PM: Punnathur Kotta Elephant Sanctuary
    Just 3km from Guruvayoor Temple, Punnathur Kotta Elephant Sanctuary offers visitors a unique opportunity to interact with about 60 elephants of different ages and sizes. Here, you can observe the elephants being fed and bathed by mahouts or even get an elephant ride.

    The sanctuary opens at 9:00 AM and closes at 5:00 PM. Estimated time spent: 1.5 hours

  4. 2:00PM: Chavakkad Beach
    About 6km from Guruvayoor, this secluded beach presents a picturesque view of the Arabian Sea. The beach is famous for its local cuisines, and you can indulge in some delicious seafood from the numerous stalls lined up on the beach.
