Early morning, start your journey towards the sacred hill of Sathuragiri, located near Srivilliputtur and start your trekking to Mahalingam hills at 5:00 am before sunrise. The Mahalingam hills offer a breathtaking panoramic view of the scenic surroundings, a 30-feet Shiva Linga, and several caves where sages once performed their meditation. On the descent, visit the beautiful Sri Vadapathira Kaliamman Temple, which is a significant pilgrimage site for the devotees of Goddess Kali.
Start your day early and visit the Sathuragiri Temple. Admission to the temple is limited to 500 visitors per day, so make sure to reach early to avoid the crowd. After offering your prayers, head towards the serene Panchatheertham waterfalls, known for its therapeutic properties. Don't forget to bring your swimwear and take a refreshing swim in the cool and natural freshwater pools. Take a meditative walk in the nearby Zamin Endathur village, which is a peaceful and scenic locale, surrounded by hills and lush greenery.
If you have more time, you can stay overnight at Srivilliputhur town, which has several budget and standard accommodation options. Visit the Megamalai hills, which are approximately 74 km from Sathuragiri and known for their tea plantation, wildlife, and scenic beauty. If you have less time, you can skip the Srivilliputtur temple or Vadapathira Kaliyaman temple. Ensure to carry enough water, wear comfortable shoes, and warm clothes during the trek to Mahalingam hills.
