Next, visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Agra Fort, where Indian emperors resided in luxury until the 17th century. The Sound and Light Show at Agra Fort is also not to be missed, showcasing the fort's rich history through peppy music and colourful lighting.
On day two, head to Fatehpur Sikri, a fortified city built by Mughal Emperor Akbar in the late 16th century. The complex houses Jama Masjid mosque, Diwan-i-Khas and Panch Mahal Palace, along other buildings that present a rich history of architecture with a blend of Islamic and Hindu elements
Afternoon, visit the Buland Darwaza, gate to the Jama Masjid, the monument known for its magnificent gate which is the highest in the world. The 15-story tall gate is made out of beautiful red sandstone and reflects grandeur.
If you have more time, consider visiting the Akbar Tomb, a beautiful monument with a distinctive architecture and serene complex. To save time, you can combine your ticket for Agra Fort and Fatehpur Sikri. Alternatively, if you have less time, you can skip Fatehpur Sikri and head straight to Buland Darwaza. Make sure to wear comfortable walking shoes as most of the attractions have vast complexes to explore.
