Visit the Madikeri Fort, a historic fort built in the late 17th century in the center of Madikeri town. The fort was built by Mudduraja and is now a museum housing a collection of artifacts from the Kodagu dynasty and weapons used during the British Raj. While here, take a stroll through the garden within the fort premises.
Visit the Dubare Elephant Camp situated on the banks of river Cauvery. This Elephant Camp is a project undertaken by the forest department and the Karnataka government. Interact with the gentle giants through elephant rides, feeding them or just watching them bathe in the river. Apart from interacting with elephants, the camp also includes Elephant educational camps, bird watching and many more.
Visit the birthplace of river Cauvery, Talacauvery located in the Brahmagiri Range. The place is the origin of the sacred river and is considered a holy site. After offering Puja at the temple, trek up to Brahmagiri Peak and enjoy the scenic view. From there, head to the Bhagamandala, located at the confluence of the rivers Cauvery and Kannike.
End your trip with a visit to the beautiful Abbey Falls located in the middle of a coffee and spice plantation. The Falls is located in the western Ghats and is a sight to behold. Spend time in coffee and spice plantations experiencing the new aroma and the scenic beauty of the hill station.
If you have more time, you can visit Nisargadhama forest, a man-made island in the middle of the Cauvery river. The place is home to many animals and is an ideal location for relaxation and enjoying nature.
If you have less time, you can remove Talacauvery and Bhagamandala from your itinerary, and opt for Raja’s Seat, a beautiful garden located near Madikeri Fort that offers a panoramic view of the surrounding hills.
