Start your trip by seeking blessings at the holy Surkhanda Devi Temple, located on a hill at an altitude of 10,000 feet. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Durga and offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the Garhwal Himalayas. To reach the temple, trek for 2 km through the dense forests and mesmerising landscapes. After reaching the top, enjoy the serene environment and take in the fresh mountain air. The temple is open from 5:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
Explore the dense forest of Kaudia and enjoy the serene ambience of the hill station. The Kaudia forest is famous for its wildlife and provides a natural habitat to Himalayan bears, wild boars and leopards. This place will offer you peace and tranquillity, away from the hustle-bustle of city life. You can also enjoy bird watching and a nature walk in the forest. The forest is open from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
On the final day of your trip, visit the Tehri Dam, which is the highest dam in India and the world's 8th tallest. The dam is constructed on the Bhagirathi River and is a major source of hydroelectricity and irrigation. You can take a guided tour to the dam and witness the beautiful scenic beauty of the place. You can also indulge in water sports and adventure activities like jet skiing, water skiing and banana boat rides. Tehri Dam is open from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
If you have more time, you can visit other places like Kanatal Adventure Camp, Kanatal Eco Park and New Tehri. If you have less time, you can skip Kaudia forest and spend more time at Surkhanda Devi Temple or Tehri Dam. Remember to dress in warm clothes as Kanatal can get chilly even in summers.
