Start your two-day excursion of Chikkamangaluru with a drive to Mullayanagiri. Once you reach the top of the hill, you will be greeted with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountain ranges. At 1,930 meters, Mullayanagiri is the highest peak in Karnataka. Later visit the Baba Budangiri Hills, which derived its name from a Muslim saint Baba Budan who resided here. You will notice an intriguing blend of Hinduism and Islam here. There are several trekking trails around the hills, including a trek to the Manikyadhara waterfall.
Begin your second day with a visit to the Kudremukh National Park, known for its natural beauty and diverse wildlife. The park offers several trekking trails, and you may spot animals such as tigers, leopards, and sambar deer. After lunch, proceed to Hebbe Falls, located in the midst of dense forest. Enjoy a refreshing dip here before returning to Chikkamangaluru.
If you have additional time, visit the Jhari Waterfalls and the Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary. Coffee plantations also offer an interesting experience. If you have less time, skip Hebbe Falls and spend more time exploring Kudremukh National Park. Wear comfortable shoes and clothing, carry sunscreen and insect repellent, and keep a sufficient amount of cash on hand as many places do not accept credit cards.
