The pristine Gokarna Beach is our first stop. It’s the perfect place for families to soak up some sun, build sandcastles, and play in the waves. The beach is surrounded by coconut palms and boasts a stunning sunrise and sunset. Parents can enjoy a peaceful walk and children can play in the water or collect seashells. We can also take a speedboat ride and explore the vast Arabian Sea.
The famous ancient Mahabaleshwar Temple is one of the holiest places in India and attracts families from all over the world. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is known for its intricate carvings and architecture. We can participate in the afternoon pooja (worship) and receive blessings from the priests. The temple also has a nearby lake, where we can enjoy a peaceful picnic or paddleboat ride with family.
This serene and tourist-friendly beach is situated in the shape of the auspicious Hindu symbol, 'Om.' Om Beach, named after this symbol, is a perfect spot for families to spend their day. The beach's cool breeze and warm sand offer an excellent setting for a family picnic or playing beach volleyball. We can even indulge in water sports like boat rides, parasailing, and banana boat rides. The sunset viewed from Om Beach is out of this world.
If you have more time, you can add Mirjan Fort located 8km from Gokarna. For a less crowded alternative to Om Beach, visit Half Moon Beach located a little further south of Om beach. If you have less time, skip Gokarna Beach and head straight to Mahabaleshwar Temple, as it is the most visited tourist attraction in Gokarna.
