Okenakal 3-Day Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Okekattur Fort
    20 minutes (6.2 km) from City Centre

    Step back in time and explore the ruins of the Okekattur Fort. Situated on a hill, the fort offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape. Walk around the fort to learn about its history and architecture. Bring a picnic to enjoy atop the hill where you can unwind and soak in the scenic beauty.

  2. Day 2: Shivagangothri Campus
    30 minutes (9.6 km) from Okekattur Fort

    The Shivagangothri Campus of Kuvempu University offers an enthralling journey through literature, culture, art, and history. The campus houses several departments, such as Science, Social Sciences, Humanities, Engineering and Management, and offers museums, parks, temples, statues and library. Explore the beautiful campus greenery, enjoy the history presented in the museums, and listen to cultural events taking place.

  3. Day 3: Kondajji National Park
    45 minutes (33.6 km) from Shivagangothri Campus

    Surround yourself with nature, flora and fauna everywhere! Take a Jeep safari to explore the wild native animals that inhabit Kondajji National Park. Driving through the park’s lush greenery, you may spot Indian elephants, wild boars, common langurs, macaques, tigers, deer, and several unique bird species (It's suggested to check for available Safari availability). End your day with a beautiful view of the sunset over the dam built on the River Tungabhadra.

Useful Tips

If you have extra time, you might want to explore Chitradurga Fort and Temples, Chandravalli cave temple which are approximately an hour distance away from Okenakal. If you have less time, consider skipping Kondajji National park.
