Explore the Promenade Beach, the pride of Pondicherry, in the morning to get fresh air and enjoy the sunrise. You can indulge in activities like jogging, cycling, meditation and yoga by the beach. Walk a few meters to the Rock Beach, another beautiful beach to catch the sunrise. Enjoy a walk along the 1.2-km long coastline, and make your way to the War Memorial. Located at the end of the beach, it was erected to honor the martyrs of the Indian Freedom Movement.
Visit the Sri Aurobindo Ashram, known for its peaceful ambiance, where you can meditate and attain tranquillity. Next, walk to the Pondicherry Museum to get an insight into the rich history of Pondicherry. The museum artefacts include rare sculptures, paintings, and a collection of stone-cut inscriptions from the Pallava and Chola Dynasties. Then, visit the famous Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus which is a stunning example of Neo-Gothic architecture. A day trip to Auroville, an experimental township, is a must-do for anyone visiting Pondicherry. Its significant attractions are the matrimandir, the art and craft centre, and the solar kitchen. Visit the Matrimandir, an architectural masterpiece, and a spiritual place where one can practice contemplation and concentration. Attend the audio-visual presentation and drop-in workshops to understand Auroville better.

For a shopping tour, head to Kalki or Cluny Embroidery Center to check out some handmade linen clothing, pottery, and souvenirs. If you have less time, drop Auroville from your itinerary and add the Shri Varadaraja Perumal Temple, Romain Rolland Library, and Bharathi Park in Heritage Town.
