Mullayanagiri is the highest peak in Karnataka, standing at 6,330 feet, and is a great place for families to have an adventure. The trek to the top is very scenic, but can be a little challenging, so it is important to wear good shoes and stay hydrated. Once you reach the top, the view is breathtaking, making it worth the trek. There is a small temple that you can visit at the top.
Hebbe Falls is a popular waterfall that is located in the middle of dense forests, giving you a peaceful and picturesque escape from the city. The waterfall is divided into two parts, the smaller one accessible easily and the bigger one through a walk of about 2-3 km. It is important to wear appropriate footwear and swimming is not allowed in the falls. Enjoy a picnic with your family or just admire the scenic surroundings.
Hirekolale Lake is a serene lake surrounded by lush greenery which is perfect for relaxing with your family. The lake is also known for water activities like boating, which costs around Rs. 300 for a 30-minute ride. There are also several food options in the area if you get hungry. It is a beautiful location for photography or a nature walk.
The Sharadamba Temple is one of the most important temples in Karnataka, and is dedicated to the goddess of wisdom, Saraswathi. The temple is serene and peaceful, with beautiful architecture and is perfect for a family visit in the morning. It is advisable to check the timings before visiting as the general timing is 7 AM-12 PM & 1 PM-8 PM.
If you have more time, you can add the following places to your itinerary: The Baba Budangiri shrine, Kudremukh National Park, Manikyadhara Falls, and the Coffee Museum. If you have less time, you can skip Hebbe Falls on Day 1 or Hirekolale Lake on Day 2 but they are highly suggested for visiting. Wear comfortable clothing, footwear and stay hydrated. Keep a water bottle and some snacks.
